NEW EVERY MORNING

There are some mornings when I wake up, I am strong and confident, ready to face the world. There are also some mornings when I wake up weighed down by the burden of yesterday’s mistakes, failures, or shortcomings. Yet God’s loving-kindness greets me always the same – with His faithful, unchanging love, unfailing compassion, and endless mercy. What an encouragement to know, Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22–23).
The Lord’s mercies are new and fresh every morning. Pause for a minute and let this sink into your heart. They are not used, leftovers from yesterday, and most especially not diminished by anything you have done or failed to do. They are new; brand spanking new! No matter what, you can steady your heart with confidence to start each day.
This word “mercies” is described by the rich Hebrew word, chesed, mentioned nearly 250 times in the Old Testament. It is often translated as “lovingkindness”, “mercy” or “kindness”; with the thought of God’s steadfast, faithful love. It is in abundance, unconditional, and can never be earned or cancelled.
It is so comforting to know that His chesed endures forever (Psalm 136:1-26), and the kindness of his endless love is never exhausted (Lamentations 3:22 TPT). God’s lovingkindness is not just a feeling; it is a covenant promise He keeps to a thousand generations (Deuteronomy 7:9). God promises that even if the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, His kindness will not be withdrawn from you (Isaiah 54:10). Rest secure knowing that His love will never let you go. Let every sunrise be the proof that God’s lovingkindness has not run dry.
His mercies are also caring and compassionate. The Lord is described as merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in compassion and lovingkindness (Psalm 103:8 AMP). God’s precious lovingkindness is your refuge and protection, that not only surrounds you, but His goodness and mercy pursues you! Even when He leads you through difficult seasons, God’s paths are marked by mercy and truth. His lovingkindness does not mean there will never be adversity. It means His great, faithful presence is always with you and that His unchanging love will never let you go.
Best of all, God’s lovingkindness is forgiving and shows mercy instead of giving the punishment that is deserved (Psalm 51:1). When you confess your sins, He then mercifully erases your past and gives you a completely clean slate (1 John 1:9). His steadfast, faithful love makes restoration possible. Oh, great is His faithfulness!
Let God’s amazing lovingkindness transform your heart and life. In times of doubt, failures, or hardships, remember His kindness is endless, His love is limitless, and His mercy is boundless. It will give you the strength and confidence to be able to embrace each day. So, when you wake up tomorrow; may you be aware that you are surrounded by God’s unchanging, love. All of these new, fresh mercies will be there to greet you because the lovingkindness of God is NEW EVERY MORNING.
