Keep Faith in the Mix in 2026

By: Dennis Harworth

Early New Year’s morning, I went to take a picture of the sun rising over the hills; expecting brilliant rays of light piercing the night sky.  Instead, heavy gray clouds hid the sunrise like a curtain drawn tight as raindrops gently danced upon the pavement.  It was a little disappointing, but I knew the unseen dawn still arrived even if it was hidden.

For the last few years, I have been inspired to take a picture of the bright and beautiful sunrise on January 1st as a symbol of hope for the year. For as sure as the sun will rise each day, God will faithfully keep His promises – giving us hope for the future.  This year however, this inspiration for hope became more a lesson of faith.

Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. (Hebrews 11:1 AMPC).  Knowing as a real fact that the sun rose behind the clouds and the rain without seeing even a hint of light was a great example of faith.  This is the confident assurance in which we are to live our lives all year (Romans 1:17).

I was confidently believing and trusting what the Word of God says by my expectation of the sunrise without realizing it.  Genesis 8:22 tells us there will be day and night (sunrises and sunsets) as long as the earth remains.  Oh, if we could only believe beyond a shadow of a doubt this same way with all of God’s promises!  This should be easy since God shouts “Yes” and “So be it” to all of His exceedingly great and precious promises (2 Corinthians 1:20).  Faith (believing) is the key and when it is mixed with the Word, it profits our lives (Hebrews 4:2).  Be fully persuaded that whatever God promises in His Word; He is also able to perform (Romans 4:21).

So, if in this coming year you are surrounded by clouds of doubt, uncertainty, or adversity, hold fast the profession of your faith without wavering (Hebrews 10:23 KJV).  God is as faithful as the sunrise and always keeps His promises, even when the storms of life make it hard to see.  Faith is not the denial of difficulties; it is confidently believing and trusting that the Light of God exists beyond what is visible right now.  Therefore, trust and believe what God says and KEEP FAITH IN THE MIX IN 2026.
