God's Undefeatable Light

In the cool evening, after finishing hanging my Christmas lights, I stepped back into the quiet street to admire the display. The strings of lights draping the roofline, threading through bushes, and outlining the driveway brightened the darkness with a delightful glow.  In the silence, the radiance almost felt sacred, like a visual whisper that light always pierces the darkness.  In that moment, I realized a truth that the dark times in life will never have the power to overcome the light and goodness of God!

John 1:5 says, And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. (NKJV).  The Greek meaning for the word comprehend is to seize, to lay hold of, apprehend, overtake, or hold under one’s power. Naturally or spiritually, darkness does not have the power or ability to overtake the light.  In other words, no matter how dark the times or how bleak the situation, darkness simply cannot put out God’s light.  This is absolutely great news because if you are a child of the Light, (Ephesians 5:8), darkness cannot put out your light either!  As long you don’t quit walking in the Light of God, you can overcome any assault darkness throws at you.

So, when circumstances of life press in on every side and your path ahead is impossible to see; know that God lights your path (Psalm 119:105).

When emotional stress obscures your thinking and weighs down your heart; know that God turns the darkness into light (Psalm 18:28 NIV).

When opposition comes against you and fear envelops you like a dark shadow; know that His light removes fear’s hold and strengthens you to keep walking in what is right (Psalm 27:1).

No matter how many obstacles you face or how much resistance you encounter when pursuing what’s right; know that God’s light cannot be stopped, slowed down, diffused or defeated by darkness (John 1:5).

Therefore, keep walking in GOD’S UNDEFEATABLE LIGHT
