FRESH STRENGTH

By: Dennis Harworth

 After long, challenging weeks filled with physical trials, countless frustrations, and overwhelming circum- stances; they were desperate for some kind of relief.  They were so tired of being physically, financially, and emotionally drained, and they knew that they could not continue this way.  Every step felt heavy as they unwillingly plodded towards the brink of exhaustion. Somehow, some way, they had to get out from under all this.  There was an intense desire to get enough strength to face the day before they were overcome with the weight of weariness.

     If you are going through anything remotely similar to this scenario, I sure have good news for you!  The Lord, the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth gives you the vigor and capacity of strength to not only face the challenges of your day, but gives you an abundance of HIS strength to get you through the day.  He gives power to those who are tired and worn out and He offers strength to the weak. (Isaiah 40:28-29 NLT).

How can you take God up on this amazing offer?  Here is a two-part answer:

     1. The first thing is to know where your source of strength comes from.  Our Almighty God is all-powerful and never grows faint or weary. (Isaiah 40:28).  God   doesn’t come and go. God lasts.  He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath. (MSG).  God is unlimited in His power and His provision to strengthen and sustain you.  He is the source of your strength.  So, when you feel life crashing down around you and it seems like you cannot go another step, trust God for fresh strength;

– GO TO THE SOURCE!

     2. One of my favorite verses, Isaiah 40:31 (MSG), gives the second part of the answer: “But those who wait upon God get fresh strength …”  The word “wait” here in Hebrew is the word “qavah”.  Literally, qavah means to bind together by twisting strands of a rope; to entwine or to wrap tightly.  Figuratively, qavah means to expect, look for patiently, hope, to be confident, trust.  So, the full meaning of waiting on the Lord is to patiently wait with confident expectancy and hope; not with a passive complacency, but actively entwining our lives with the Lord and His purposes; trusting Him for His promise of fresh strength for every area of our life.  If you need to get some fresh strength;

 – WAIT ON GOD!

       “Here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Don’t give up; don’t be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord.  Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting—for He will never disappoint you!”

(Psalm 27:14 TPT).

Wait on God to be your strength every morning (Isaiah 33:2).  The strength you need will come and it will fill your life in ways that cannot be explained.  You will have the courage to continue on and it will be as though you can breathe freely now with a sigh of relief; knowing that you can do this.  No longer will you have to rely on your own strand of strength, but your single strand becomes one with the supernatural strength of our Almighty and everlasting God!  Entwine your life with God and this new strength will cause you to soar like the eagles; run and not grow weary; walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31).  Therefore, you must go to the source, wait on God, and He will give you His

FRESH STRENGTH!
