FORGET NOT HIS WORD

 Faster than a Google search, more powerful than a SpaceX Starship, and as available as the air we breathe; is memorized scripture spoken from the heart in faith.  All scripture is God-breathed and is full of living power (Hebrews 4:12 NLT), and profitable to use.  It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness.  Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you (2 Timothy 3:16-17 TPT).

It is quite obvious, why there is such a need to know God’s Word.  It is powerful and effective and useful for every area of life.  Since man is made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26), the same power of His Word in you is available when you speak it (Proverbs 18:21).  If you don’t know His Word, you will not be able to witness for yourself the power of God performing the promises of the Word, especially when you need it.  This is why it is of the utmost importance to memorize scripture.

When you memorize the Bible, you make it portable.  It becomes immediately accessible to you day and night, ready to release its power at the blink of an eye.  Having God’s Word “on ready” is absolutely vital to overcome Satan’s temptations and be victorious in your Christian life.  If Jesus triumphantly responded to each of the devil’s temptations by quoting the Word (Matthew 4:1-10), you should too.  Notice Jesus did not say, “Can you wait until I get my concordance?”  This is why it is so necessary to store verses in your memory because they are the only consistently effective weapons against the devil.                

I am sure this is what you desire, but the mere thought of memorizing verses brings out a list of excuses saying you can’t.  But you can remember things because you have already committed to memory personal information by repetition over the years - your birthday, Social Security number, email address, and phone numbers.  That’s not all.  How many times have you started singing along with an old song from decades ago?  How many catchy commercial lines or movie lines do you know by heart?  How many jokes, recipes, sport stats, or stories can you tell from memory?  See, you can put things to memory without even realizing it.  Repetition of Bible verses can produce the same results.  Plus, you have a promise in the Word of God that says, I will not forget Your Word (Psalm 119:16b).

Find what suits you best to memorize the Word; whether it is by listening, reading, or having a visual aid.  Discover different ways to make it fun so you can get the optimal results for your efforts.  Put the Word to music and song.  Write down the scripture every day until you can write it without looking.  Read the verse out loud several times a day.  Record the scriptures on your smartphone and play them back as often as you can.  Put sticky notes on your mirror and your refrigerator, reciting the verses every time you see them.  Use your drive time back and forth to work to meditate on the verses which makes the travel easier.  Get an accountability partner and make it a friendly contest.  Any time and effort you invest to memorize the Word of God will always pay huge dividends.

The Bible is the holy Word of God, unmatched in power, supplying you with everything you need.  Let it fill your memory, rule your heart, and guide your life.  By memorizing verses, you will be ready to defend against the attacks of temptations, defeat the strategies of the devil, and delight with inexpressible joy your life of victory.  By learning and remembering God’s Word, all this and more is yours as long as you
