FORGET NOT HIS POWER

By: Dennis Harworth
It was a bright, clear, sunny day when a friend of mine and I decided to take a test drive in a new type of car that had recently come out. We had both worked together as auto transporters and had wondered about what all the hype was with the Tesla car. At that time there was not any kind of traditional “dealerships”. Tesla had a store inside a mall where you could select different options and put your order in to get your car built. However, there were three cars in the mall parking lot that you could take a test drive, so we chose one to take it for a spin.
My first encounter with an electric vehicle was when I was a kid. There was an elderly neighbor woman who used a three-wheel electric cart for her transportation. It was quiet, but it was slow. Although it irritated her; every time I saw her, I would foot race her and the cart to the corner of the block (and win). This was vividly brought to my memory as I slipped behind the wheel of the model S.
The car was quieter than I expected as it glided silently out onto the city streets. Turning down a street with a long straightaway, the salesperson told me, “Step on it and see what it will do”. Now this was music to my ears. I had driven many powerful cars in my career and I currently owned a high-powered sports coupe. I really had expected a strong acceleration complete with a deep sound of surging power like - “Bah Waaaahhh!”. But what happened next, I will not forget. I stomped on the pedal and with a high-pitch futuristic whirr, there was a burst of instant power with such lightning speed that I thought the car had left the ground. In a matter of seconds, the “runway” had disappeared and I had to put on the brakes before the road curved.
One would think the experience of the manifestation of God’s power would be even more memorable, especially if there was a display in the physical realm. This would be the thunder, lightnings and the sound of a loud trumpet (Exodus 19:16); powerful wind, earthquake and fire (1 Kings 19:11); mightier than the noise of many waters and the mighty waves of the sea (Psalm 93:4); or the sound of a mighty rushing wind (Acts 2:2). However, most of the time the demonstration of the power of God is silently “and suddenly”; and at least in my life – unforgettable.
Throughout the Bible you can see the mighty power of God displayed as a force that creates, delivers, heals, saves, and protects. The Lord is great in power, whom no one can resist (Nahum 1:3-6). Don’t be like the children of Israel who limited the Holy One of Israel. They forgot about God’s power, His miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt; even though time after time, God rescued them form their enemies. As a result, they faced painful consequences (Psalm 78:56-64).
So, forget not His power in creation, making the heavens and the earth by His great power (Jeremiah 32:17). Forget not His power when He delivered the children of Israel from Egypt, dividing the waters of the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21-22). There is nothing too hard for You (Jeremiah 32:17).
Forget not His power through Jesus, who healed every sickness and every disease (Matthew 9:35), cast out demons (Matthew 8:16), raised the dead to life (John 5:21), calmed the storms (Matthew 8:26), and conquered death through His resurrection (Matthew 28:5-6). With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
Forget not His power to save, for the LORD your God is mighty; He will save and will rejoice over you with gladness and singing (Zephaniah 3:17). The Good News about Christ is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes (Romans 1:16 NLT). He is also able to save to the uttermost (Hebrews 7:25).
Forget not that God in His mighty power will protect you until you receive this salvation (1 Peter 1:5 NLT). He is able to keep you from falling (Jude 1:24) and He is able to guard you until the day of His return (2 Timothy 1:12). I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop You (Job 42:2 NLT)
This same power of God is for you to experience. Whatever you are going through, He is able to deliver you out of all your troubles (Psalm 34:17). God’s unlimited, measureless, Almighty power is far greater than every circumstance and situation you will ever face. Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for His miraculous power constantly energizes you (Ephesians 3:20 TPT). Therefore, you should: FORGET NOT HIS POWER.
