FORGET NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS

Years ago, the company that provided the best and easiest union job I ever had, left the state. I declined a transfer because I thought it would be fairly easy to find something equivalent here in California. Well, I sure was wrong! It became very discouraging day after day to get turned down over and over again. Monday through Friday I would spend time in the Word, eat breakfast, pack a lunch, put on a suit, grab a stack of resumes; and then go out and make a job of looking for a job. (This was long before there were online applications). After a couple of months of no success, I expanded my search to a 50-mile radius from my house. Eventually, after putting in applications at seventy-two places and a series of miraculous events, I landed a job.
This job was nothing like my previous one. It was by far the most difficult, the most frustrating, and the most dangerous job I had ever had. But it was a union job, and I could work my way up to the top pay scale that was comparable to what I was making before. I was so happy to finally be working that I didn’t even take the time to read the benefits package booklet given to me at orientation. It wasn’t until a few years later I began reading the booklet and discovered a number of great benefits that belonged to me. Imagine my disappointment of realizing I had missed out on free resources and programs, as well as spending thousands of dollars needlessly by not using my benefits.
Throughout the Bible, God has generously provided countless number of amazing benefits that belong to you. Read God’s Word to really discover what your benefits are and use the remembrance of them as reasons for praise. In complete adoration, honor, and praise, David declares in Psalm 103:2, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not ALL His benefits (emphasis added). He goes on to list many benefits that God has given so you can know what to receive and remember. Here are just five of God’s benefits from Psalm 103:3-5:
He forgives all of your sins – every one… (verse 3).
He heals all your diseases – every disease, sickness, and affliction… (verse 3).
He redeems your life from destruction – ransoms you from death, rescues you from hell,
and saves your life… (verse 4).
He crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies – surrounds you with His unfailing love,
kindness, and tender compassion… (verse 4).
He satisfies your desires with good things – so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s
[strong, overcoming, soaring]! (AMPC)… (verse 5).
Therefore, if you want what God has for you, don’t put off any longer to find out what they are. Your benefits are waiting to be received and enjoyed! But wait, there’s more. When you remember God’s benefits, your faith grows stronger, your hope abounds, and the trust in His promises is strengthened. And, in times of distress and discouragement, you can have the assurance that the same faithful God who gave you these awesome benefits, will always come through on your behalf. So, let the blessings of God’s goodness fill your life as you follow His command to: FORGET NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS.
